Leonardo Crudi was born in Rome in 1988. Self-taught, at the age of thirteen he discovered the world of graffiti. This initiation in the "streets" taught him to build two-dimensional images and to associate the colors, eventually developing an interest for a representation balanced between abstraction and figuration.

From 2012, he focused on producing his first pieces on paper the geometrical elements of which were inspired by the lettering of graffiti and, in the realism of the figures, by the framing of Italian neorealism cinema. He chose to express himself through biros and enamels, uniting vertical graphics with geometric backgrounds in a single color.

In 2014, he started to further study the lessons of Renato Mambor (1936-2014), thus perfecting the spatial two-dimensionality and introducing silhouettes of workers into his compositions.

In 2015, he focused on studying Soviet avantgarde cinema, greatly influenced by Ėjzenštejn's "montage of attractions". Subsequently, he looked towards the painting and photographic innovations of Russian Suprematism, Constructivism, and Futurism, and re-elaborated the lessons of Rodčenko, El Lissitzky and Malevič. He was attracted by the chance of uniting abstraction and figuration in a language able to drive ethical and political contents. In his mind, being an artist means actively working towards the transformation of contemporary society.

He is currently working on a series of posters for the “Cinema” project, dedicated to avantgarde Italian films.
