Pedrazzi investigates the human form, represented by enigmatic, fascinating characters, in constant juxtaposition to a 16th century natural landscape. In some pieces it is in fact the landscape itself that becomes the protagonist, often animated by tight-rope walkers or symbolic apparitions; in others the human figure is presented free from any context at all, making it even more powerful in its immediacy.

With a watchful eye on the great masters of the past such as Leonardo, Perugino and Van Eyck, Massimo Pedrazzi finds an affinity of thought and atmosphere in the works of some of his contemporaries, including Norwegian Odd Nerdrum and American Aron Wiesenfeld.

He has exhibited in and collaborated with a number of art galleries in Italy and abroad.

Pedrazzi displays that sarcasm that can be found in the most banal and private of everyday activities undertaken in the bathroom; in his characters, Pedrazzi searches for amazement and behaviour and, in their faces, that irony through which one can narrate life.

Hence the potrait as both departure and arrival points of intimate contact. Of an experience that goes beyond simple encounters and pure representation, that becomes an investigation of a charatcer, of a personality. An investigation free from adulatory or aesthetically obliging concessions which, on the contrary, each time highlight what is most peculiar to the limit of irreverence; wrinkles, bags under the eys, skin blemishes, a smirk on the lips. It is the soul laid bare through the inescapable nudity of the face.
