Originally known as the Rain, Oasis were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. The group initially consisted of Liam Gallagher (lead vocals, tambourine), Paul Arthurs (guitar), Paul McGuigan (bass guitar) and Tony McCarroll (drums).
While many bands were graciously accepting awards, Oasis felt they deserved them – an alien concept from a country that prides itself on polite modesty, and one that challenged our belief systems of the time.
