Tom Wesselmann was born in Cincinnati in 1931. After studying psychology and art in Cincinnati, from 1956 he attended the Cooper Union School in New York. Interested in the experiments of J. Dine, he elaborated recurring themes (nudes, landscapes, still lifes) in a language close to pop poetics, which often combines real objects with pictorial illusionism, treated with flat chromatic surfaces. He died in NYC in 2004.
