Starring in Philippe Noyce's The Quiet American, he completely changed register in the third episode of Austin Powers alongside comedian Mike Myers and in 2005 he landed in fantasy cinema in Batman Begins, this time dealing with a story of heroes in the round. He also worked with Christopher Nolan on The Prestige (2006), a tale of dangerous rivalries between illusionists, set in Victorian London.
