Paolo Cesare Maldini (Milan, June 26, 1968) is a sports manager and former Italian footballer, defender, director of the technical area of AC Milan. He was runner-up in the world in 1994 and runner-up in Europe in 2000 with the Italian national team. A world-class player, considered one of the best in football history and by many the best defender of all time, over the course of his 25-year career, he only ever played for AC Milan, winning 26 trophies: 7 league titles, 1 Italian Cup, 5 Italian Super Cups, 5 Champions Leagues, 5 European Super Cups, 2 Intercontinental Cups and 1 FIFA Club World Cup. Together with his team mates Mauro Tassotti, Franco Baresi and Alessandro Costacurta, he made up one of the best defensive line-ups in the history of football, allowing AC Milan to set the all-time record for consecutive matches without defeat (58) in the five main European leagues.
