Natural Tiger's Eye Gemstone from South Africa.

Take home this splendid natural specimen of the Tiger's Eye gem from South Africa.

Tiger's eye is a variety of quartz containing crocidolite, a mineral belonging to the asbestos family. The presence of these iso-oriented fibers, yellow in color tending to gold, lends the stone a unique effect called chalking.

According to medieval legend, tiger's eye protects against demons and evil spirits. Its glints are similar to those in an eye and so it is believed to protect the eyes. In India, on the other hand, many centuries ago, this stone was given by mothers to their children, to help them overcome daily risks and problems.
