An elegant and ironic painter, Pino Procopio was born in Guardavalle, in Calabria on June 16, 1954. From early childhood he was drawn to the clay that surrounded the building and which he used to model neoprimitive sculptures. He attended the first two years of the art college in Catanzaro.
From the very beginning of his studies he displayed a great preference for artistic materials. Once college was over, he enrolled in the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Rome. While living in the capital, he attended the various galleries and got to know a number of real artists - as well as some fake ones, recognisable by their very, very strange clothing.
He queued for hours at the great Van Gogh exhibition in the Gallery of Modern Art, but to admire the incredible paintings by Antonio Corpora on display on the floor below. One chilly March day, having finished university, in an act of availability and generosity, he married a girl that he had waved to from a moving train just the day before.
His personal exhibitions have been hosted by a number of galleries and public spaces, making him more famous throughout Italy and, above all, on the international plain.
