The Prize

Win this incredible photo "Girl with a Wooden Doll" by Alberto Korda.

This photo was taken in mid-February 1959 in Sumidero, Pinar del Río Province, and turned into a denunciation of the helplessness in which capitalist greed had plunged many Cuban children. It is one of the few original prints signed by the artist.

About the artist

Alberto Díaz Gutiérrez, better known as Alberto Korda or simply Korda (September 14, 1928 – May 25, 2001), was a Cuban photographer, remembered for his famous image "Guerrillero Heroico" of Argentine Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara. Before the Castro revolution he was a fashion photographer. In 1960 he became a photographer of the daily Revolución and that same year he took the well-known photo of Guevara, which he made no money from. He died of a heart attack during his exhibition in Paris in 2001 and was buried in Havana.
