"Born only from an introspective curiosity, Empireo is the result of eyes that look towards the invisible. The absence of external stimuli during the pandemic prompted the artist Veronica Barbato to search within herself for creative impulse, with patience and study. This experimentation is an investigation imbued with sincere spirituality: the rarefied and casual shapes, together with the variety of colors, refer to the intellectual, warm and celestial light, emanating from the Empyrean - the outermost sky, a spiritual place dedicated to God.The constant research that has supported the realization of the works is inspired by tending towards the ideal and the infinite natue of the most distant sky.Empyrean consists of a series of statues and photographs, reached by taking into consideration every aspect of the experimentation that preceded their creation.The first, numerous and different, takes on multiple shapes and colors, enhanced by the irregular surface of the poly foam urethane. The photographic series portrays sections of colored cellophane, their shapes achieved in a completely random way. Their colorful weaves and the clarity of the colors abstract us from reality, transporting us to a different, overlying dimension made of light and intellect." – by Eleonora Savorelli

The Cause

The IEO-MONZINO Foundation is the only one that exclusively and directly supports the clinical and experimental research of the European Institute of Oncology and the Monzino Cardiology Center: for almost 30 years, its goal has been to identify the best treatments and support innovative projects through a virtuoso that allows, in total transparency and without waste, to make available to patients what researchers discover in the laboratory.

Research funding is confirmed to be strategic for the work of the doctors and scientists who work at the IEO and Monzino, so that the progress and results achieved in the laboratory can be quickly transformed into more personalized treatments, and translate into increasingly effective diagnostic systems .

The priority commitment of the IEO-MONZINO Foundation is therefore to further strengthen fundraising so as to make precious resources available in support of the research of excellence carried out by IEO and Monzino and to allow its work to continue and over the medium/long term.
