Marina Atallah is a Brazilian-born photographer based in New York City and one of the most diverse artists of our times. She started photographing at the age of 14 in São Paulo with her 35 mm Nikon camera, and since then, she has built a published body of work that is provocative and extremely captivating. She believes that she can communicate better through her still images because a photo is a powerful way to freeze time and allow the beauty and horror of what we face to sink into our souls in a peaceful way, allowing reflection. Marina came a long way from photographing street life in São Paulo in the 90s to editorials in New York, and she has documented every step of the way.
"Welcome" is from the artist's series Take me Out and was taken on the historic day when New Yorkers protested against the immigrant ban.
