Wayne Rooney was photographed by Walter Iooss Jr on the legendary Polaroid 20x24 camera. Iooss is one of America’s most famous sports photographers and during his career spanning four decades has worked for Sports Illustrated. Iooss was specially flown in for the shoot from New York having shot with this rare camera before. The legendary six-foot tall camera (one of only five ever made) was driven from Prague to Manchester and set up, tested and ready for action within two hours. Andy Warhol and Chuck Close are amongst other artists that have chosen to use this camera built in the 1970’s. Chocolate’ is Polaroid’s official name for the film Iooss used, traditionally known as ‘sepia’ in the UK.

The print itself measures 20x24 inches and delivers the greatest detail that rivals the best digital camera today. Rooney was on the set with Iooss for over an hour and the images captured were stunning and unlike any others of Rooney previously.
