Annalisa Minetti, singer and Paralympic athlete, was born in Rho on December 27, 1976.

At eighteen she discovered that she is suffering from retinitis pigmentosa and macular degeneration, diseases that would lead her to gradually become blind. Today she can make out shadows by day and sees nothing at night. But this does not stop her from enjoying her passions: in 1998 she took part in the Sanremo Festival and won both in the new offerings and in the big names category.

Having become an established singer, Annalisa Minetti decided to devote herself to sports and from 2001 she started training in athletics led by Andrea Giocondi. Her first achievements came at the 2012 London Paralympics: she competed in the 1500 meters, cat. T11-12, taking home a well deserved bronze medal and setting the new world record in her category with a time of 4'48 "88.

At the 2013 World Championships in Lyon Annalisa Minetti won the gold medal. In the same year, in Grosseto, she took the victory in the 800m, finishing first in her series with a time of 2’25 "61.
