UglyDolls – stars of the Fashion Comics project – are coming to Pitti Bimbo, June 2018.

I'M Isola Marras dresses Ice Bat the UglyDoll. 

I'M Isola is for the new generation. I'M Isola Marras is the contemporary branch of the Italian RTW line Antonio Marras. While Efisio Marras took up from his father and headed to the island of Sardinina, I'M keeps the historic codes of Italian fashion in check (decoration, frills, sewing, embroidery) but he speaks to the new youg and creative generation.

The UglyDoll, a celebration of individuality and creativity, has romantic origins: the first sketch was sent between David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim, two young lovebirds, in 2001. 

A symbol of imperfection, the UglyDoll has rewritten the rules of tolerance, declaring, “We all have a little bit of ugly”. Even the stitching is imperfect, giving each UglyDoll its own unique character because looks don’t count - it’s what’s inside.  

This initiative sees the involvement of brands such as Mimisol, Simonetta, Gallucci, Pero, I'm Isola Marrras, 10X10 An Italian Theory, Bad Deal, Fun & Fun, Mimidà, I Love My Dog, Leontine Vintage and Goganga, all of which have dressed their own plush UglyDoll and created an iconic T-shirt that will be printed by Camac. Their creations will be on display at the Pitti Bimbo fair.

This initiative was conceived by designer Alessandro Enriquez and developed in collaboration with CPLG Italy, licensing agent that manages the UglyDoll brand in Europe.
