Triptych of stamps dedicated to the soprano Renata Tebaldi issued by the Philatelic and Numismatic Office of the Republic of San Marino.
To mark the 10th anniversary of the death of Renata Tebaldi, the Philatelic and Numismatic Office of the Republic of San Marino dedicated a triptych of stamps to the illustrious soprano, captured in three solomn and formal poses.
These original stamps produced in a very limited edition are a great treasure for the general public but will also undoubtedly be of interest to collectors from all over the world who would like to have these unique pieces in their private collections.
The stamps portray the radiant Renata Tebaldi in the foreground, captured in three moments of her caree at three different national theaters:
- La Scala Theater in Milan, where she made her debut in 1946 at the reopening concert after the theater's reconstruction
- The San Carlo Theater in Naples, whose audience adored the soprano and awarded her with a gold medal for her 1951 performance of Verdi's Traviata
- Titano Theater of the Republic of San Marino (central piece in the triptych), considered the most important theatre on the territory. Renata Tebaldi defined San Marino as an "extraordinary country", so impressed by every aspect that the Republic had to offer that she decided to spend the final years of her life there. And that was where she passed away, on December 19, 2004, at the age of 82.
