War, society, politics, Rome of the 1950s rising from its ashes. This is the beating heart of Franco Angeli's art (Rome, 1935-1988), an eclectic, self-taught artist.
Angeli was an experimenter of techniques and materials, a leading figure on the Italian Informal scene (one of his references was Alberto Burri) and one of the most active artists belonging to the so-called Scuola di Piazza del Popolo, the pop art movement that started in Rome in the sixties with friends and colleagues Mario Schifano and Tano Festa.
