About the artwork:
This work was created by the two artists as their representation of life which, at times, is acted rather than lived to the full. The theater, made entirely of wood, tells the story of an unhappy whale, painted over the three sides, which suddenly finds the joy of life thanks to an encounter with a small boy. The work is an allegory of the randomness and unpredictability of our existence.
About the artists:
Patrizia Grieco (Italy) and Cécile Guicheteau (France) are contemporary artists who have both been dedicated to their art for years. They met by chance during an artistic residence in Tucheng, China and, noticing a common thread in their art, ecided to start a collaboration. Both have had artistic careers full of experiences in Europe and overseas but, while each continue to have their own style as a product of their individual backgrounds, they have allowed themselves to be contaminated and enriched by each other and by the places, cultures and realities that they have experienced artistically. Their biographies can be found on the web but their artistic experiences are constantly enriched by their continuous research and their encounters with other artists.
