Born in Naples in 1981, Giovanni Truppo is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, singer, poet and one of the most eclectic personalities of Italian independent music. As a child Giovanni displayed an affinity for music and at the age of seven he began playing the piano which became the key instrument of his musical repertoire. Inspired by the songwriting of the seventies and by sounds that are close to Sufjan Stevens, he established himself on the music scene for his "ability to renew the songwriting".

After a short time with the Le Baccanti group, from 2010 to 2015 he released three albums: C’è un me dentro di me (2010), Il mondo è come te lo metti in testa (2013), Giovanni Truppi (2015).

In 2016 he went on a national tour, performing on a piano that he personally modified.

Three years later he released his fourth album, Poesia e Civiltà. The disc differs both from the themes addressed in the first three albums, and the writing method. Truppi approaches political and social themes with a classical and complex lyrics, distancing himself from the pop sounds.

With the EP 5, created in 2020, he revisited and re-examined his songs, rearranging them with the precious collaboration of colleagues and friends such as Calcutta for “Mia”, Nicolò Fabi for “Conoscersi in una situazione di difficoltà”, La Rappresentante di Lista for “Due segreti” and Brunori Sas for “Procreare”.
