Born in Venice in 1929, he studied economics and business at the university of the city. His painting was attentive to Venetian color traditions and open to the influences of the new European avant-garde: in the 1950s he inaugurated his first solo show which was positively received by both the public and critics, and in the same years he won numerous awards, especially during the exhibitions held at the Bevilacqua la Masa Foundation. It was close to the so-called existential realism, movement that brought the subject to the center of the representation as an element of investigation of existence, elevating it to a moment of reflection on the human drama.
