The Prize

A child in the woods can easily get lost and feel scared. But if he finds a supply of stories, a ration full of windows on other worlds, he can also choose to dive into it and fly towards unexpected shelters. Reading aloud, then, could intrigue new travel companions to the point of discovering them as friends.

Piero Bulzoni wants to contribute to this kind of rescue. With Antonio Mirizzi he illustrated children's books for Gallucci. As a complete author he writes and draws the adventures of Detective Capibara, published by Slowcomix.

The K Ration- Tagliapietre intended for children will contain amusing comics and illustrated stories, bizarre fairy tales and gadgets such as postcards and colorful t-shirts: all designed by the talented designers of the via Tagliapietre studio.

The Cause

Focsiv is the largest Italian Federation of Christian Organization about cooperation and volunteering; It was founded in 1972, today it brings together 94 Italian organizations present in over 80 countries. From its birth Focsiv and its Organizations have employed over 27,000 international volunteers who have made their human and professional contribution available to the poorest populations, to offer its support in the implementation of development projects in the social-health, agricultural-food, educational-training, defense of human rights, protection of childhood and adolescence, gender equality, in Italy and in the whole World.

From the collaboration between Focsiv and the designers of the Studio in Via Tagliapietre in Bologna, the fundraising campaign "Ration K - Focsiv" was born. The authors involved are comics and illustration professionals, a graphic designer, Nino Pellacani, old glory of Italian basketball, and an editor, Andrea Plazzi who has made many of the publications he edited available, as well as Francesco Matteuzzi, all gathered in the shared studio in via Tagliapietre.

It is a gesture to fight the violence of war with a source of survival such as imagination and reading. The idea is offering for the auction a unique object, a box with an original drawing containing a surprise made up of drawings and books: just like in the RAZION K of World War II, where a box containing food and cigarettes was distributed to American soldiers.

The boxes’ contents change according to the target, that can be adult or children.
