The Artist

Having established the necessary distance from some dated critical positions, characterized by somewhat superficial readings of the boy of Rubens Fogacci's work, it seems right to emphasize that in the artist's expressive research there is a tendency to revisit certain iconographic references in a completely personal way, those belonging to expressive fields expanded over time, at times heterogeneous from a purely conceptual point of view. Fogacci tends to set, paint and finally characterize, with reflections that are at turns memorial and then fantastical  in a personal evocative virtual theater, in which Munch's late nineteenth-century ghosts can legitimately coexist alongside the mythical characters of Lichtenstein. Calvino would have appreciated a painter so clearly oriented towards the unconscious perception - even some remote and justified probability - of arcane as well as invisible events. Fogacci's narrative inclination, which stands out within and beyond his imaginary universe, sees color spread like a seductive voice that echoes in the air. A voice that recounts, intrigues, fascinates. A voice that has, among other things, the merit of expressing a sense of amazement and always remaining deeply authentic.
