The “Passaporto, bronzo” mask can be worn but also used as a decoration to hang or display on a flat surface.
The name is “Passaporto, bronzo” because the coloring is reminiscent of a bronze material that stands out from the classic vision of the African wooden mask. The classic "Passport" mask usually has the typical colors of the village of origin and was used as a sign to be recognized during travel.
The mask was created using a meticulous technique:
- Clay sculpture
- Clay mold (plaster casting)
- Clay extraction and mold finishing
- Laying of paper and gauze
- Post production (gluing, cutting of eyeholes, coloring)
The materials used are: glass mastic, alabaster plaster, newspaper, vaseline (to maintain the mold), vinyl glue, sandpaper, brushes, cans of acrylic color, beeswax.
