Si tratta della mascotte del Giro d'Italia, firmata da Alberto Contador, ciclista su strada spagnolo che corre per il team Tinkoff-Saxo. Soprannominato El Pistolero, ha caratteristiche di passista-scalatore e di cronoman.
È professionista dal 2003, ed è uno dei sei corridori ad avere vinto tutti e tre i grandi Giri ciclistici: Giro d'Italia (nel 2008 e nel 2015), Tour de France (nel 2007 e 2009) e Vuelta a España (nel 2008, 2012 e 2014)

Il pelouche Wolfie è un lupacchiotto alto 23 cm e sarà la mascotte ufficiale del Giro d'Italia.

Giro e WWF si sono subito trovati d'accordo nello scegliere il lupo; innanzitutto perchè è un corridore instancabile che ha fatto davvero il Giro d'Italia, ripopolando progressivamente l'Appennino e poi le Alpi. Inoltre, è una specie su cui il WWF lavora altrettanto instancabilmente da anni.

The Cause

WWF European Alpine Programme (EALP) aims to preserve the Alps through a supranational approach and the identification of priority habitats and species.

The program Alpine Committee (EALP) was born out of a cross-border project of species protection involving the national organizations of the WWF Switzerland, Austria, Germany, France and Italy. The goal is international cooperation for the conservation of plant and animal biodiversity in the Alpine region.

This year WWF EALP decided to promote a campaign for the wolf and, to do so, they have signed a partnership agreement with the Tour of Italy, becoming the Official Charity for 2015.
