Nirvana became popular for a number of reasons.
One of the main reasons was their music, which was a blend of punk rock, alternative rock, and heavy metal. Nirvana's sound was raw, powerful and emotional and their lyrics were often introspective and dealt with themes of alienation, confusion and pain.
