Artwork made with origami collages and old postcards
Year: 2020
The Artwork:
The work, created during the early stages of the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020, represents the dismay and fear surrounding an unknown evil, a fear that still pervades our thoughts today.
The Artist:
Adalgisa De Angelis (Italy), aka AdalgisArt, is a multifaceted artist, costume designer, set designer and designer. For over 30 years she has been creating jewelry and bags for her brand. She works as a costume designer for theater, telefilms, TV programs and cinema.
The Objet Trouvè, inspired by Duchamp's concept, is a creation of original assemblages, which gives new life to each material used by intertwining plastics, metal, paper, fabrics, resin and 3d penart.
Distant dreams become images of the present with a refined and playful character that move forward in symbiosis. Imagination and manual crafts make up a full-fledged journey. The origami of the boats symbolizes the confused journey of our present day; the knot of ancient fabrics follows a different language that takes us back to the memory of the past in order to treasure it in the present. The themes chosen are well anchored to everyday life, suffering and rebirth. AdalgisArt works almost exclusively on fiber art and pop art, favoring sculpture. Her professional and artistic body of work is full of experiences both in Italy and abroad.
