The Prize

Mark Knopfler OBE is a British singer, songwriter, record producer, and guitarist for the rock band Dire Straits. He is one of the most celebrated British guitar heroes to emerge from the late 1970s and 80s. He was born in Scotland and grew up in the north of England; he co-founded Dire Straits with bassist (and fellow shoe donor) John Illsley in London. Dire Straits recorded six albums including Brothers In Arms which was one of the best selling albums in history! Mark has written several film scores including for ‘The Princess Bride’ and ‘Local Hero’, and has an expansive career as a solo artist.

Rolling Stone Magazine placed Mark in the Top 50 of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time. The six times Grammy Award Winner also holds Brit Awards, an Ivor Novello Award, and is in the Rock Hall of Fame, so owning these signed shoes that have travelled all over with him will be owning a piece of rock history!
