He trained at the studio of photographers Pierre Oxenaar and Jacques Oxenaar, through whom he discovered the secrets of photography and his true vocation. During the war he took his first photos in Paris and, after the Liberation, his first portraits of jazz musicians.

In 1947 he left for Morocco to carry out his military service and created the first military photography laboratory at the Casablanca air base, deciding to settle there. His work was in much demand among important international art, architecture and decoration magazines.

After a fifteen-year career he left Morocco to settle in Nice.

In 1965 he met Brassaï, whose photographs he admired. He recognized in Brassaï a role model and teacher. A great friendship and undestanding united them; Brassaï went on the entrust Lacroix with the 150 prints of his cartoon graffiti for his portfolio.

In 1970 Lacroix began working with Salvador Dalí, on a series of portraits in which Dalì takes to the stage. It was the beginning of a ten-year collaboration.

In 1974, Dalí asked him to exhibit his work for the opening of the Gala and Salvador Dali Museum in Figueres, Catalonia, with 80 photographs under the title "Studies and Portraits". Since then, a room on the first floor has been permanently dedicated to Marc Lacroix.
