Tadej Pogačar (Komenda, 21 September 1998) is a Slovenian road cyclist who rides for UAE Team Emirates. Nicknamed Pogi, he has been a professional since 2019 and is considered one of the most accomplished riders in cycling history and the strongest cyclist since Eddy Merckx. He excels on climbs and on the pace, has a good fast sprint in tight finishes and excellent chronoman qualities, and is adept at riding over rough terrain such as dirt and cobblestones. Due to his characteristics, he is a rider suitable for both stage races and one-day races. In his still short career, he has won the Tour de France 2020 and 2021, the UAE Tour 2021 and 2022, the Volta a Catalunya 2024, the Tour of Flanders 2023, the Liège-Bastogne-Liège 2021 and 2024, the Giro di Lombardia 2021, 2022 and 2023, the Tirreno-Adriatico 2021 and 2022, the Amstel Gold Race 2023, the Fleche Wallonne 2023, the Paris-Nice 2023, the Strade Bianche 2022 and 2024, and the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games in the road race.
