On June 30, 2002 at the International Stadium in Yokohama, Luiz Felipe Scolari's Seleção became World Champion for the 5th time in its history, beating Germany. Ronaldo, who was next in line to be awarded the Ballon d'Or, scored the decisive two goals, defeating Oliver Kahn in the 67th and 79th minutes. With 8 goals to his name, he also won the title of top scorer of the tournament.
