Born in Sora on 7 July 1901, Vittorio De Sica was an Italian actor, director and screenwriter. Among the most influential filmmakers in the history of cinema, he was also a theater actor and documentary maker.
He is considered one of the forefathers of neorealism and one of the greatest directors and performers of Italian comedy. His films Sciuscià, Ladri di biciclette, Ieri, oggi, domani and Il giardino dei Finzi Contini won Oscars for Best Foreign Language Film, also receiving a nomination in the category for Matrimonio all'italiana.
