Renzo Nucara (born in Crema, Italy, in 1995) got his high school diploma in 1973 specializing in art subjects. He then attended the Brera Academy of Art in Milan. His first personal art exhibition was in 1977 at the art gallery ‘Ticino’ of Milan.
In the following years, his writing became signs while the canvas was replaced with tridimensional works. New materials were used, such as woods, objects and transparent films, to create Boxes of Memories with a playful and ironic approach.
He returned to bidimensional works with Reperti, a distinguishing feature of his artistic production of the 90s. These works are forms that evoke objects already corroded by time, first carried out with paper-pulp and foam rubber and then with plastic material on which layers of color, grains, pigments and elements of the natural world are set.
In 1993, he founded the Cracking Art Group with other five artists. The chosen material was plastic, becoming a means of social and ecological engagement. Together with the group he took part in the 49° Biennale of Venice, through the SOS World installation: more than thousand turtles of recycled and golden plastic occupied the gardens around the historic pavilions. He returned to the Biennal, with the Group in 2011 and 2013.
Besides the performances and installations of Cracking Art, Renzo Nucara developed his artistic research from 2000 on Resinfilm, resin stratifications, pigments, artificial and natural objects, which has become the basis for his recent plexiglas works, named Stratofilm, Shape and Lighting shapes.
