Sian Amber Fletcher, "Listen to music & masturbate", 2020.
Digital illustration created with Adobe Procreate, 297mm x 410mm.
Sian Amber Fletcher is a young illustrator and artist from Cape Town, South Africa. Her work is strongly inspired by bodies and intersectional feminism. As a teenager she suffered from anorexia, so she uses art as a form of healing. She has lived in Hanoi and Prague and now Berlin. All these places are a source of inspiration for her work thanks to the colors, cultures and nature. Her favorite thing in the world is color, so she transports it into her illustrations to dismantle the culture of patriarchy.
An illustration inspired by Titian's Venus of Urbino that celebrates Womxn's Day and female pleasure.
This artwork is part of the Viva la Vulva by Nuvenia project: a collective exhibition by international artists that aims to break down taboos linked to the female body in conjunction with an online charity auction in favor of the Italian Red Cross. The works will be on display at Six Gallery in Milan from 9 to 11 October.
"We are born free from taboos. We live in a society that forces them upon us, feeding stereotypes. Talking about them helps to break them down and learn to accept each other: because we are all perfect precisely because we are different".
