Match issued Test jersey, signed and worn by Alun Wyn Jones for the Lions 2021 squad headshots on player meeting day - the first time players meet ahead of the Tour and the day they wear the official kit for the very first time.

12 years after a battle with the Springboks for the Lions in 2009, Jones was chosen to return to South Africa, as captain.

He has featured in each of the last 9 Lions Tests with his greatest hour coming in 2013 when he captained the Lions in the decisive third Test win to seal a first Series win in 16 years. Jones was given the Lions captaincy after Warburton's injury sustained in the second Test. He became the first substitute captain to lead out a Lions side for a final Test since 1904 and was part of a superb pack display that inspired a 41-16 victory.

Four years later he started all three Tests once again in New Zealand to complete the set of Lions opponents. To return to the site of your first Tour is remarkable.

Since 2017, Jones has succeeded Warburton as Wales skipper, leading them to the 2019 Grand Slam, a World Cup semi-final later that year and another Six Nations title in 2021. He then succeeded Warburton leading the Lions in 2021.

With 157 caps (148 for Wales and 9 for the Lions), he is the most capped player in the history of international rugby. Since making his debut in 2006, he has won 3 Grand Slams, two Six Nations titles, and was preparing to go on his 4th Lions Tour before he sustained what seemed to be a Tour-ending dislocated shoulder during the Lions 28-10 win over Japan in the 1888 Cup. However, after just 18 days, Jones made an incredible recovery and is now in South Africa as Captain, undertaking his 10th successive Test cap for the Lions.
