Big Fl/Y is an essentially-styled suspension lamp designed by Ferruccio Laviani. The particular transparency of the material and the sheen of the colours recreate the idea of a soap bubble, shimmering iridiscently in the light. This unique piece has been hand decorated by Elisa Macellari, Italian-Thai illustrator, winner of the 2017 Gold Medal of Authors of Images in the publishing category and of the Silver Medal 2019 in the comic category. She works for publishing houses and magazines including The New York Times, Il Sole 24 Ore, 7 Corriere della Sera, Donna Moderna, Mondadori, Feltrinelli, Einaudi. She is also the author of the graphic novel “Papaya Salad” published by BAO Publishing.

The Big FL/Y lamp decorated by Elisa Macellari is one of the 8 iconic Kartell objects customized by Illustri, the Italian association of illustrators, for Casa Illustri, an initiative promoted by Eataly Milano Smeraldo to mark Design Week. The objects will be on display in the store in Piazza XXV Aprile in Milan for the duration of the auction.
