"L'orribile gioco della guerra" ("The horrible game of war") is an unpublished work created using mixed technique on 80 * 80 cm canvas, mainly in oil with the addition of burns and paper mache that give the work a materical texture.
The 2022 work has material and essential features focussing the attention on a large face that is transfigured, transporting us into a dreamlike atmosphere, the face is transformed, tears come in a game of splashes of color and burns. Below, a toy soldier with a burn on the tip of the rifle trained on the face.

The work is an allegory of the war which is sadly a current issue once more.
Art in these moments is called to respond and this work is a clear message against any kind of war that increasingly seems to have become a horrible game staged for a power struggle in which pawns like toy soldiers fall, a game of suffering in which we can only be defeated.
