Juan Martín del Potro was born in Tandil, Argentina, and started playing tennis at the age of seven. Known as "Delpo" or "the Tower of Tandil," he is the last Argentine to win a Grand Slam title, at the U.S. Open.

He was the first to defeat both Federer and Nadal during the same major.
