A series of devastating earthquakes have hit southern Turkey (now known as Türkiye) and north-west Syria killing over 50,000 people and injuring many more.

The UK's Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) have launched the Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal to help hundreds of thousands of people affected by earthquakes that hit Turkey and Syria.

DEC charities and their local partners were among the first responders providing urgent aid. Following the search and rescue operation, immediate priorities are access to healthcare, shelter for those who have lost their homes, heating in safe spaces, blankets, warm clothes, ensuring people have food and clean water.
