AGED METAL ON WOOD, 35X10X10 CM, 2016
Mauro Fastelli
A skilled sculptor, the artist presented a series of works that validate and fully establish him as an artist. The sculptor favors the use of two materials that very different from one other: gold and iron, respectively light and shade, wealth and poverty, magnificence and narrow-mindedness. By mixing the two materials together, Fastelli creates a continuous and passionate search for harmony between the lines, an inalienable element in his creations, to give shape to his own aesthetic vision of nature. In some of Mauro's creations, two art forms coexist: painting and sculpture, two very different worlds that are, however, capable of compensating each other by stretching forward in unison. His painting thus acquires the connotations of sculpture, breaking down limits and barriers, thus generating three-dimensionality. His sculptures are nourished by the existential space, emerging from the canvas or from a wooden plank, creating a continuity between painting, sculpture and the art of observing.
