Franz Borghese was an Italian painter and sculptor, among the leading figures in Italian painting of the late twentieth century. In his work he portrays the bourgeoisie of the beginning of the century with an ironic and fantastic vein which, the more cutting and bitter it is, the closer and more empathetic it is to human weakness, through the use of language and poetics that reach universal metaphor.
