ART IN A BOX II - PAINT YOUR TORCH SONG is a charity art project featuring original artwork by famous names from the worlds of music, comedy and TV. The participating artists each received a bespoke art box containing all the materials needed to create the painting. The theme for the paintings was 'Torch Songs’ - inspirational songs that we turn to when times are tough and that help guide us out of the dark.
Gary Numan's work has been inspired by the song "Head like a Hole" by Nine Inch Nails.
Gary Anthony James Webb – aka Gary Numan – is a highly influential singer, musician, songwriter, composer and record producer who helped define the sound of the late 1970s and early 1980s. He first entered the music industry as the frontman of the new wave band Tubeway Army. After releasing two albums with the band, he released his solo debut solo album The Pleasure Principle in 1979, topping the UK Albums Chart. Releasing the iconic songs “Are ‘Friends’ Electric?” and “Cars”. Recognised worldwide as a unique talent, he received an Ivor Novello Award for inspiration in 2017.
