Samir Handanovič (born 14 July 1984 in Ljubljana) is a Slovenian footballer, goalkeeper and captain of Inter Milan. Considered one of the best goalkeepers of his generation, he began his career in Slovenia and then moved to Italy, where he played for Udinese, Treviso, Lazio, Rimini and then returned to Udinese. He has played for Inter since 2012, where he has been captain since 2019 and has won an Italian championship, two Italian Super Cups and two Italian Cups. With the Slovenia national team, where he played from 2004 to 2015, he played as a starter in the 2010 world championship. He is the foreign player with the second most appearances in Serie A, behind Javier Zanetti (615), and the first goalkeeper for Inter in Serie A. He holds the record for penalties saved in the history of Serie A.
