Salvatore Fiume was born in Comiso, Sicily, in 1915. Painter, Sculptor, Architect, Writer and Set Designer. His first solo show in '49, at the Borromini Gallery, was a success: the MoMa acquired one of his works, and Fiume took part in an exhibition in New York a few months later. It is the immediate arrival of fame: in the 1950s he exhibited at the Venice Biennale, an exhibition that was covered in full page by Life Magazine.
For the following years, requests came from all over, from a large canvas for the main salon of the Andrea Doria to commissions from Life and Time.
Thus began a phase of great travels around the world: Fiume has the opportunity to collect impressions, shapes and colors of other cultures, enriching ideas that the artist incorporates under the well-known and reassuring structure of Mediterranean classicism.
After having exhibited his pictorial and sculptural works all over the world, seeing them acquired from museums of the caliber of the Vatican Museums, the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, the Pushkin of Moscow and the MoMA in New York.
