  • Technique: Oil on canvas
  • Dimensions: 120 x 90 cm

Gianriccardo Piccoli (Milan, 1941) trained at the Brera Academy under Pompeo Borra.

In the seventies he furthered his research into interiors and landscape, which were to remain recurrent themes and subjects in his later works. In the subsequent decade came public recognition of his work, through the Feltrinelli prize in 1984, his personal exhibition at the Teatro Sociale in Bergamo and his participation in the Venice Biennale in 1986.

In 2010 he exhibited in Rome for the "Tribute to Caravaggio" at the Arciconfraternita dei Bergamaschi. In 2011 a church was inaugurated in Portovejo (in Ecuador) displaying his work entitled Pentecostes. At the end of 2011, a monograph that gathered together his entire body of work was published by Electa.

This lot is part of the #MolaMia artists initiative in support of Bergamo Hospital involving over 20 contemporary Italian artists who have joined forces for a fundraising campaign to fight the coronavirus emergency that has seriously affected the city and the province of Bergamo.
