Bid on a one-off piece of art painted by Gary Numan on the soundboard of one of the most iconic acoustic guitars ever created, the legendary Gibson J45.

This unique artwork was inspired by the song "Is This World Not Enough," a true masterpiece in its own right.

The artwork was created for NO STRINGS ATTACHED, an artistic project featuring over fifteen famous musicians and performers.

May, 1979. It’s an ordinary Thursday evening, which means it’s time for Top of the Pops. Amidst a zeitgeist of punk and disco, the show suddenly appears to be interrupted by a transmission from the future. A luminous synth riff echoes out, a beat drives on and up steps an otherworldly figure - part robot, part alien - to deliver an enigmatic lyric depicting some kind of android existence in a dystopian future. It’s Gary Numan fronting Tubeway Army for their breakthrough hit Are ‘Friends’ Electric?.

Fast-forward to January, 2021. Numan’s first single Intruder (from the Intruder album) pulsates ominously as if it’s soundtracking an imminent threat. It’s visionary and venomous, with a narrative that imagines the Earth growing angry at mankind's actions, and more than willing to fight back.

Retune

Retune is a charity that inspires young people to improve their mental wellbeing through creative outlets such as music and the arts. Creativity can be defined as 'anything you can lose yourself in'. Retune delivers workshops in schools, universities, colleges, hospitals and prisons, as well as putting on high calibre live shows that encourage performers and audiences to be open about their experiences. Retune's SCALES model, with six 'strings' representing different areas of mental wellbeing (Sleep, Creative, Active, Listen, Earth, Social) can be used as a preventative self-help tool that might reduce the number of young people seeking professional help or ending up in mental health crisis. Retune is supported by the NHS and carries out its work all over the UK, wherever services are required. The message is simple – we all go 'out of tune' from time to time, and it is important to have strategies up our sleeves in order to achieve mental 'harmony' once more.
