Franco Fontana began taking photographs in 1961. A regular participant of "Photoclubs", he mainly photographed as an amateur while however carrying out aesthetic research on various themes. The works dedicated to the abstract expression of color were to become relevant, carried out in a period in which abstractionism in photography could be found exclusively in black and white.
Over 70 books have been dedicated to him, he has exhibited in public museums and private galleries around the world and has held over 400 solo and group exhibitions to date. His works are housed in over fifty museums worldwide and in other private galleries.
