William Roger Clemens, nicknamed "Rocket", is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played 24 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for four teams, most notably the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. Clemens was one of the most dominant pitchers in major league history, tallying 354 wins, a 3.12 earned run average (ERA), and 4,672 strikeouts, the third-most all time. An 11-time All-Star and two-time World Series champion, he won seven Cy Young Awards during his career, more than any other pitcher in history.

Erasing these harsh feelings from their eyes and souls, as well as alleviating their suffering: these are the things that motivate me to help these people. I am increasingly convinced that those who have been 'on the front lines' of life know all too well the meaning of the words 'fear' and 'desperation' and can thus better understand and support the needy who come to ask for help."
