Built in the end of 13th century as an enchanting country house for an aristocratic Florentine family, Villa La Massa has been a member of The Leading Hotels of The World, Villa La Massa has been part of Villa d’Este Group since 1998.

Majestically sitting on the banks of the Arno River, in the heart of Chianti-Rufina wine region, Villa La Massa is just a few kilometers from Florence’s city center. This five-star Hotel – an architectural gem of the Medicean era – feels a world away, an oasis of peace and serenity immersed in a 25-acre park.

Villa La Massa features 51 rooms, each distinct and uniquely designed, and divided into 5 classical Tuscan-style buildings: Noble Villa, The Mill, Villino, Casa Colonica and La Limonaia (completely renewed and launched in 2019).

The exclusive restaurant Il Verrocchio is the only one in Florence with a wonderful terrace directly overlooking the Arno river. Dinners are prepared in the Italian and Tuscan tradition, with talent and care, and paired with excellent wines. Overlooking the pool area is L’Oliveto bistrot, a new culinary offering for Villa La Massa. Situated in the Noble Villa, the Medicean Bar offers a wide selection of “grappe” (Italian eau-de-vie), whiskeys, brandies, and cocktails. Found within the Mill, the 15th-century Wine Cellar stores the finest labels and is the perfect location for tasting Tuscan wines paired with typical cheese and charcuterie.

The IEO-MONZINO Foundation is the only one that exclusively and directly supports the clinical and experimental research of the European Institute of Oncology and the Monzino Cardiology Center: for almost 30 years, its goal has been to identify the best treatments and support innovative projects through a virtuoso that allows, in total transparency and without waste, to make available to patients what researchers discover in the laboratory.

Research funding is confirmed to be strategic for the work of the doctors and scientists who work at the IEO and Monzino, so that the progress and results achieved in the laboratory can be quickly transformed into more personalized treatments, and translate into increasingly effective diagnostic systems .

The priority commitment of the IEO-MONZINO Foundation is therefore to further strengthen fundraising so as to make precious resources available in support of the research of excellence carried out by IEO and Monzino and to allow its work to continue and over the medium/long term.
