Ernesto Ornati was born in Vigevano and was educated by his father, Tenured Professor of the Accademia di Brera Art School. When he was 18, he enrolled in the scultpure lectures held by Francesco Messina at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan. In 1964, he started his production with Carlo Carrà featuring live molded scupltural portraits made of polychrome terracotta. His first exhibits date back to 1958, whereas his solo and collective exhibits became more frequent during the '60s and '70s. 

By constantly practicing drawing and colors, he has recently reached a very personal synthesis between painting and sculpture, being this evident in his latest paint-sculptures.
