Dismaland Banksy Banknote - framed.

Banknote privately printed in 2004 by the British artist who goes by the name of Banksy. An original forgery. This tenner features a portrait of Princess Diana replacing that of Her Majesty the Queen alongside the words "I promise to pay the bearer on demand the ultimate price". The back features a portrait of Charles Darwin and the statement: "Trust no one". It was released in relatively large numbers for the preview night of Banksy's Santa's Ghetto exhibition in 2004 and a limited edition print of an uncut full sheet was also produced.

Banksy's banknotes were printed by the Bottleneck Gallery. They were printed using an offset Chromolithography technique, produced in 2004.

The famous street artist produced the £10 note in 2004, seven years after the princess's death, for use during a performance. The anonymous artist said he printed 100.000 notes to be thrown from a building.

The frame also contains an original postcard from Dismaland, a temporary art installation organized by Banksy that lasted for thirty-six days, from August 21 to September 27 2015 at the Tropicana, a disused seaside lido in the tourist resort of Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, England. The exhibition was presented as an "anti-Disneyland amusement park" that Banksy himself described as a "theme park not suitable for children".

Banknote dimensions: 7.5 x 14.5 cm.

Frame size: 33.5 x 28.5 cm

Please note: This Banksy note is the identical replica of the one thrown from the building. It was supplied to Dismaland as a souvenir and bears the logo of the temporary art installation.
