Raised in Rosario Central, he played for Benfica, Real Madrid, Manchester Utd, PSG and Juventus. He boasts twenty-eight club titles. With the Argentina national team he won a Copa América in 2021, a CONMEBOL-UEFA Champions Cup in 2022 and a World Cup in 2022. He also boasts an Under-20 World Cup in 2007 and an Olympic gold medal in 2008.
